About Us
The Lillian Smith Educational Foundation (TLSEF) is a Non-Profit organization formed to assist underprivileged youths with the financial assistance needed to continue their educational goals. The idea came about because my mom, Lillian Smith was a natural born educator, but never got the opportunity to advance her education due to circumstances beyond her control. However, she was resolute in transferring and pouring what she knew into others, including her children. She would provide advice, educational resources including cash and kind to ensure that children got the necessary educational assistance they need to advance themselves. Unfortunately, my mom passed away on May 12, 2014, and as such it gives me great pleasure to continue her legacy of changing lives through education. – Michelle (Founder)
Our Impact
TLSEF endeavours to assist underprivileged youths who lack the financial resources to transition from high school to college not just in Maryland, USA but also in Jamaica where the needs are similar.
Young people from different backgrounds have a huge impact on us and all our activities. They highlight those parts of the society that are broken, so we can help them in all possible ways to regain hope and flourish in life.
Our Mission
"Make College/University for minority youths a reality, one household at a time.
Over time, the foundation intends to partner with other stakeholders and
donors to ensure that youths made known to or aware of by the organization, receive the
necessary assistance to complete their university or college education."

We Find
We are in search of opportunities to help as many youth as possible. We approach and fund all those who are in need.
We Provide Scholarships
Today’s youth need a helping hand. All deserving students will be given scholarships in order to get a decent education.
We Educate
We hope to build small-scale schools for the underprivileged children and youth of daily wage workers where they can learn and grow together to make this a better world.
We Mentor
We will create opportunities where we employ youngsters so they can live their dreams for themselves and their families.
